Software product owner

For a leader company in the aerospace sector we are looking for a motivated Software Product Owner to join our Software Unit, who will work with our flight software teams, targeting products, such as small satellite platforms for a variety of space applications, avionics systems such as on-board computers, radios and others.

As a Software Product Owner you will be a key player in defining and delivering the flight software for  space missions. You will gather user and business requirements, develop a clear product vision, and guide development teams to create high-quality software solutions for our products. Collaborating closely with other Product Owners, you will contribute to shaping the mission vision while coordinating efforts across multidisciplinary teams.

The activities will include (but are not limited to):

• Define flight software use cases and high-level requirements.
• Write clear, well-structured epics and user stories aligned with Agile best practices.
• Manage and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring continuous refinement and alignment with business goals.
• Collaborate with Product/Project Managers, Technical Leaders, and stakeholders to understand requirements and envision innovative product solutions.
• Incorporate stakeholder feedback to enhance product quality and functionality.
• Communicate product development status, roadmaps, and challenges clearly and effectively to internal and external stakeholders.
• Review technical documentation produced by the development team.
• Ensure clarity on priorities, milestones, and objectives for the development team.
• Identify and mitigate product-related risks proactively.
• Manage competing priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
• Participate in the continuous improvement processes within the team.
• Mentor and coach junior Product Owners, fostering growth and effectiveness in their roles.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Scientific discipline (equivalent professional experience in software development environments will be considered as well).
• At least 5 years of experience as an Agile Product Owner within software teams.
• Hands-on and proactive approach. 
• Analytical mind and problem-solving, as well as a continuous learning attitude.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

 REQUIRED EXPERIENCES & SKILLS

• Strong understanding of Agile principles, methodologies, and best practices.
• Solid knowledge of the software development lifecycle.
• Proficiency with Agile project management tools (e.g., Jira).
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical features and vice versa, with a customer-oriented approach.
• Familiarity with defining and tracking Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure product value and performance.
• Experience in leveraging data analytics techniques and tools for a data-driven decision-making approach.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

ADDITIONAL ASSETS

• Previous experience in any embedded software related industry.
• Exposure to safety/mission-critical software development practices.
• Understanding of cybersecurity principles in software applications.
• Knowledge of space or avionic systems.
• Previous experience with Confluence for knowledge sharing.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools and processes.
• Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g. Python).
