Database administrator (dba) engineer in spain

JOB DESCRIPTION:  

EURES Agenzia Piemonte Lavoro is seeking an experienced Database Administrator to manage, optimize, and secure our organization's database systems in an international, regulated environment.   

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Database Management: Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, security, and optimization of database systems 
• Collaboration: Work with developers, architects, and infrastructure teams to design efficient, normalized database structures 
• Performance Tuning: Monitor database performance; optimize queries, indexes, and configurations 
• Security: Manage identities, roles, permissions, and implement security policies 
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve database-related issues 
• Automation: Develop scripts/tools (Bash, Python, etc.) to automate repetitive tasks 
• Capacity Planning: Evaluate and plan for database growth/scalability 
• Cross-functional Support: Assist other IT teams as needed 
• Documentation: Prepare and maintain technical documentation 
• Compliance: Conduct system reviews (GMP systems) and generate reports 
• Vendor Coordination: Liaise with application/solution providers 

SKILLS: 

• Database Systems: MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc. Scripting: Bash, Python, PowerShell, or Perl. OS Knowledge: Linux, Unix, Windows. Monitoring Tools: Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, or DBMS-specific tools. Backup/Recovery: Data protection strategies and tools - Cloud DBs: AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL 
• LANGUAGES: Fluent in English and Spanish (written and spoken) – this role operates in an international setting Knowledge of Italian, French or German is a plus.  
• TRAINING: Preferred: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Engineering, or related field  
• EXPERIENCE: 2-5 years as a DBA administrator. 

PLACE OF WORK: Barcelona (Spain) 

WORK CONDITIONS: 

• CONTRACT: Permanent.  
• SALARY: 40.000€ - 50.000€ gross/annually Commensurate with experience.  
• WORKING HOURS: 40/week (08:30 to 17:30). Occasional public holiday work as required by client needs. Additional Duties: On-call shifts and travels to other sites (Europe). 
• OTHER EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS: Travel-related costs to other sites than primary assigned location will be covered/reimbursed additionally. Additional compensation will be provided for on-call shifts, public holiday work, and overtime hours. Place of work: Barcelona (Spain)
